PCO works by shining UV-A light onto a surface coated with micro-grain anatase titanium dioxide (TiO2). The resulting reaction creates powerful oxidizers called hydroxyl radicals and superoxide ions. The radicals aggressively attack odor molecules, bacteria, viruses and mold, destroying them, leaving behind harmless carbon dioxide and water vapor. Combining UV-C and UV-A-powered PCO provides a potent one-two punch against odor and impurities. This combination is two to five times more potent than UV-C alone.
